Legacy

Terms of Service

Last updated September 18, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Legacy, LLC ("Legacy", "we", "us") for this website and the Legacy memoir service. By creating an account, buying a package or using a gift code, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Legacy.

What Legacy is

Legacy turns a life story into a book. The storyteller talks with an AI guide, by voice or by typing. Legacy writes those conversations into a memoir, the storyteller reads it, changes anything they like, and approves it. The finished memoir is delivered in the formats included in the package.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password private. If you set up Legacy for someone else, you confirm that they want you to.

Packages and payment

Refunds

You can have a full refund at any time before the storyteller begins their first conversation. That conversation starts only after the storyteller confirms they are ready. After that the work has started and the purchase is final. Our refund policy has the details, including printed books that arrive damaged.

Gifts

A gift code lets one person redeem one package. It does not expire and has no cash value. The person who bought it is told when it is activated and when the book is on its way, and sees nothing else. The refund rule is measured from the recipient's first conversation.

Your story belongs to you

The storyteller owns their story and the finished memoir. Legacy claims no ownership of anyone's life story. You give Legacy permission to store, process, format, print and deliver your material, and to share it with the service providers described in our privacy policy, only so that we can provide the service to you. We will not publish or quote your story without your written permission.

What you are responsible for

Printed books and audiobooks

Hardcovers are printed on demand by a print partner and shipped to addresses in the United States unless we say otherwise. Delivery times are estimates. A copy that arrives damaged or misprinted will be replaced. Audiobooks are narrated by an AI voice.

Your Legacy Contact and invited readers

You may name a Legacy Contact who can access your memoir and order copies if you are unable to, and you may invite others to read it. They cannot change what you wrote. You can change these choices from your account.

The service itself

The Legacy name, website, software and design belong to Legacy, LLC. We work to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, including outages at the providers we rely on. We may improve or change features over time. We will not remove something you have paid for without offering a fair alternative.

Disclaimers and limits

Legacy is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those stated here, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the package concerned. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

Ending your account

You can close your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, you can ask for a copy of your story.

Changes and governing law

If we make a change to these terms that matters, we will tell you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Legacy, LLC is organised, in the United States.
